Flower Cherry (Sakura/ "桜 " in Japanese) for its delicacy, the short period of its existence, is the symbol of fragility. Metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life, an aspect of Japanese cultural tradition often associated Buddhist influence and which finds expression in the concept of "mono no aware". The transience of flowers, their extreme beauty and quick death, has been associated with death.
-MAYFLY: The life of this insect is ephemeral. Mayflies can be as old as three years. However, when mayflies reach their adulthood, their life span varies from two hours to three days. The name Ephemeroptera (order of Mayflies) is derived from the Greek "ephemera" meaning short-lived, and "ptera" meaning wings. This is a reference to the short lifespan of most adult mayflies.
